To start the meeting, we stood and said the Pledge of Allegiance, and an Invocation was given by Andy Jamieson.
Chairman’s Welcome
Carrie is worried about the optics of the new recall effort against Cam Cavitt, due to the bad press and how the Dems will try to use it against the Republican Party. She mentioned that August 1st, the Board of Canvassers will either approve or deny the recall petition. She also mentioned that if the recall petition passes, Cam will have no campaign fundraising cap going forward.
Marie Fielder is trying to assert that the Alcona GOP censured Cam Cavitt. Please see past minutes to see that the vote on the Censure Resolution for Cam Cavitt was NOT PASSED by our Executive Committee, and therefore, the Alcona GOP did NOT censure Cam Cavitt.
Gary Wnuk officially resigned from the Alcona GOP Executive Committee. Carrie read aloud the resignation email.
Speaker: Todd Smalenberg – State Rep for 106th Candidate
Todd Smalenberg is running against Cam Cavitt for the 106th District. Todd is a retired Marine, thinks HB4474 is asinine, and feels we need better election integrity. You can learn more about him here:

Todd spoke today about the recall effort against Cam Cavitt and answered questions from those in attendance.
During this time, William motions to allow the recall petition to be circulated at the Alcona GOP fair booth in August. Andy seconds this motion.
Discussion was held and points for and against were mentioned.
Roll Call Vote:
- William: Yes
- Judy: Yes
- Andy: Yes
- Jess: Yes
- Jeff: No
- Carrie: No
Motion passes and the recall petition will be available for people to sign at our Alcona GOP fair booth.
Meeting Break: 8:14pm – 8:24pm
Alcona County Fair
Before the discussion about the Alcona County Fair started, Judy made a motion for a sign to show that we neither support nor condemn the recall efforts as a party, and are simply letting the legal process play out, be displayed on our Fair booth. Andy seconds the motion. No discussion and the motion passes.
After which, the fair booth volunteer signup was then passed around. There will be a silent auction happening at the booth again this year, along with a guess the candy game.
