Meeting Minutes

October 23, 2023

Opening:

The meeting was called to order by Carrie Mullins at the Alcona EMS building on M72 at 7:05pm.

Business:

Pledge of Allegiance & Invocation Given

To start the meeting, we stood and said the Pledge of Allegiance, and an Invocation was given by Andy Jamieson.

Chairman’s Welcome

Carrie gave a short welcome.

Todd Smalenberg – Candidate for the State Representative

Guest speaker Todd Smalenberg gave an update on his recall effort, which sadly, fell short of the goal. He talked about how we need fighters, and how he also does work for the Wounded Warrior Foundation.

Early Voting

There was a discussion on Early Voting and how it will be 9 days. The County Clerk’s office will be open, which is taking away from the Townships (and thus, enabling centralization). Townships will chip in money to the county to help handle this new fiasco. There are 12 townships in Alcona County.

School Bond

The only thing up for the upcoming election is a School Bond for Alcona County schools.

November 27, 2023 Potluck & Last Meeting of the Year Announcement

Our annual last meeting and potluck of the year will be held on November 27, and we hope you attend and bring a dish to pass. If you like it, we are sure to enjoy it as well. We will start regular meetings in March of 2024.
