February 15, 2024

Opening:

The meeting was called to order by Carrie Mullins at the Alcona EMS building on M72 at 7:03pm.

Call to Order:

7:03pm

Business:

Pledge of Allegiance & Invocation Given

To start the meeting, we stood and said the Pledge of Allegiance, and an Invocation was given by Andy Jamieson.

Discussion on HB5120 Petition

Carrie discussed this petition.

Discussion on Becoming a Precinct Delegate

If you are interested in running for the Precinct Delegate position within your Precinct, you must fill out and turn in an Affidavit of Identity to the County Clerk by May 7, 2024.

County Convention Business:

Election of County Convention Officers

Gary Wnuk nominates Carrie Mullins to Chair the County Convention, and the nomination is seconded by Andy Jamieson. The nomination is accepted and all are in favor by a voice vote.

Gary Wnuk nominates Jeff Dobbs to Secretary of the County Convention, and the nomination is seconded by Danica Jamieson. The nomination is accepted and all are in favor by a voice vote.

Oath of Office administered by Gary Wnuk for both Carrie Mullins and Jeff Dobbs.

Motion to Waive Reading of the Call to Convention

Gary Wnuk motions to waive the reading of the Call to Convention, and Jeff Dobbs seconds this motion. All are in favor by a voice vote. Motion passes and the reading of the Call to Convention was waived.

Secret Ballot Voting for Delegates & Alternates

The current members are to be considered for the position of Delegate & Alternate on the secret ballot:

• Jeff Dobbs

• Andy Jamieson

• Robert Turek

• Jess Dobbs

• Jim White

• Jaynee Germond

• William Sickner

• Lisa Turek

The results of the votes are as follows for the position of Voting Delegate:

• Andy Jamieson: 8

• Jess Dobbs: 7

• Robert Turek: 6

• Jeff Dobbs: 6

• William Sickner: 5 (was not elected as Voting Delegate)

The Alternates were chosen in order of preference by a voice vote as follows:

• Lisa Turek

• Jim White

• Jaynee Germond

• William Sickner

County Convention Business Closed

Announcements/New Business:

Good of the Order:

Robert Turek

Bob brought up Target Alpena driven housing push. Will need a resolution… Bob & Jeff will work on writing one. He is willing to advocate on the Alcona GOP behalf to add weight to the argument against mass housing projects interjected into a job market. Once resolution is approved, we all agree to stand behind him as our advocate at the BoC meetings as needed.

• Other Agenda Items to be Added as Needed
